You’ve heard correctly! The first of it’s kind in the nation, Green Life Oregon, a recreational drive-thru window dispensary, will celebrate its grand opening in Gold Beach on April 20th.
Green Life Oregon will bring a new level of “cannabis convenience” to the legalization era, and first of it’s kind in the U.S. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? The cannabis industry is constantly being re-imagined built upon by the new wave of younger generation tokers and advocates. There are currently multiple medicinal marijuana drive-thru’s thriving in Detroit, Michigan, as well as the original window dispensary Sonshine Organics in Olympia, Washington, but Green Life Oregon is slated to be the very first cannabis company to sell “party pot” directly to customers inside their vehicles. Oregon voters legalized recreational marijuana in 2014, and the law was implemented July 1, 2015, with retail outlets selling herb to adults 21 and over as of October 2015. “We want to make sure people have the opportunity for natural alternatives to pain medicine, as well as offer a product the voters of Oregon support,” Green Life manager Jeremy Paulson explained. “We also are firm believers that a reliable dispensary can help keep black market marijuana off the streets, thereby reducing crime.” Given Gold Beach’s recent fiscal struggles, Curry County Economic Development Director Julie Schmelzer is completely behind the Green Life Oregon drive-thru venture. “I’ve seen the business plan, I’ve met the investors, and I believe this venture is going to be quite an asset to the area,” she said. “Economics don’t lie there is green in the new green.” As usual, Oregon blazes the trail for other states to follow in it’s recreational footsteps. Let’s see what unfolds over the rest of 2016!
